Build Your Digital Arts Portfolio During the Holidays.

Upon graduation, you’ll have to create a portfolio for your exit program.  By getting an edge on creating and maintaining your compendium, you’ll create more time during graduation and won’t be as stressed.   Most schools are on vacation and that gives you extra time to work and study.  Many students take advantage of this time as an opportunity to work on their portfolios.

You can meet up with classmates and make it a fun part of working together.  Having someone to work alongside you can be beneficial since they can give you a critical eye or assist you.  Learning to work efficiently with teammates is a part of any job description in creative fields.  Working together will make the time go by faster, and it can be more enjoyable.

Organizing your portfolio is time-consuming.  Plan on spending time each day working on what will be one of your most important “calling cards”.  This is what employers will be looking at and can be your most effective tool for securing a career. 

Graphic Design or Web Development students should consider creating a blog on WordPress. This is also a great way to showcase your work.  Besides to creating an online portfolio, you can begin to advertise your skills on social media sites like LinkedIn.

The holidays are a terrific time since you can work without interruptions.  You can still have a great time celebrating with friends and family, but you won’t have a chance to become bored.

By targeting your time off, and using it to work on your craft, you’ll be on point with starting off on a great career path.
